(1) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Richard S. Baldwin for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119K Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 23 March 1972. On that date, Captain Baldwin flew an armed reconnaissance mission over hostile supply routes. His outstanding airmanship, under hazardous conditions, resulted in two trucks destroyed and three damaged. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Baldwin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. *** (2) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Richard S. Baldwin for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119K Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 9 July 1972. On that date, Captain Baldwin and his crew turned the tide of battle and saved a friendly outpost from being overrun by hostile forces through their gunship close air support. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Baldwin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force. *** (3) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Richard S. Baldwin for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119K Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 20 July 1972. On that date, Captain Baldwin responded to an emergency request for airborne support of a beleaguered friendly outpost. Captain Baldwin’s actions, under extremely hazardous and adverse circumstances, prevented the friendly outpost from being completely overrun by hostile forces. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Baldwin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
