David G Bellemere

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major David G. Bellemere for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight achievement in aerial flight as group leader and pilot of a B-24 type aircraft. On 19 September 1944, while participating in a mission against highly important marshalling yards in Hungary, severe enemy opposition was encountered. Through superb airmanship and courageous leadership, Major Bellemere continued through to the objective, aiding materially in the tremendous damage inflicted upon the assigned target. Despite continued savage resistance by the enemy after leaving the target area, Major Bellemere, through his courage and decisive action, made possible the safe return of his formation. By his combat efficiency and devotion to duty, as evidenced throughout over thirty (30) combat missions against the enemy, Major Bellemere has reflected great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
