Don H. Badgwell

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Don H. Badgwell for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a B-52 combat aircrew member assigned to the 4133d Bombardment Wing (Provisional), Anderson Air Force Base, Guam, on 14 January 1969. On that date, Captain Badgwell flew as a copilot on a high priority mission over Vietnam. An electrical malfunction occurred which limited the bombing capabilities of the aircraft. By employing unusual skill, Captain Badgwell precisely timed his limited equipment to insure adequate power supply for an effective weapons release. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Badgwell reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
