David H. Arno

First Lieutenant David H. Arno is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for outstanding achievement in aerial flight. Lieutenant Arno piloted his P-47 type aircraft with eminent technical skill and demonstrated steadfast courage in action against the enemy while participating in a dive bombing mission over occupied territory on 12 September 1944. Under the extremely trying conditions produced by intense, accurate anti-aircraft fire he executed a highly successful dive-bombing attack in which he destroyed two enemy gun positions.
