Richard H. Anderson

Anderson, Richard H. is awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. First Lieutenant Richard H. Anderson distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-123 Aircraft Commander near Tonle Cham Airfield, Republic of Vietnam on May 5, 1970. On that date, Lieutenant Anderson flew an emergency resupply mission transporting vital supplies and equipment in support of key friendly operations against hostile forces in the vicinity of this forward base. In spite of adverse weather and constant threat of hostile ground fire and attack, Lieutenant Anderson successfully completed this important mission, contributing directly to the successful conclusion of the friendly operations, and safely recovering both his aircraft and crew. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Anderson reflect great credit upon himself and the Untied States Air Force
